We sat down with the happy couple to ask about their journey—from Henry’s initial decision to travel to their beautiful proposal.
What initially made you decide to travel to the Philippines to find a partner?
Henry: It was really about finding someone with the right values. I was looking for a lifetime partner and felt that women in the Philippines, particularly in a city like Davao, were more traditional and family-oriented. I saw a video of a tour to Davao and decided it was the opportunity I had been waiting for.
And that decision led you to Hazel. Can you tell us about the moment you first met?
Henry: I met Hazel during one of the social events in Davao. These events have hundreds of beautiful women, and it can be a bit overwhelming, but Hazel stood out immediately. There was just something about her.
Hazel: I was also at the social, hoping to meet someone special. When I met Henry, he was very polite and a gentleman. It was easy to talk to him.
Things moved quite quickly from that first meeting. Henry, the video shows a very special moment. Can you describe your proposal?
Henry: I knew very soon after meeting her that Hazel was the one. I didn’t want to waste any time. During my trip, I took her to a beautiful spot and asked her to be my wife. Thankfully, she said yes. It was the happiest moment of my life. The video shows me getting down on one knee; it was a memory I wanted to capture forever.
Hazel, what was going through your mind during the proposal?
Hazel: I was so surprised and happy! My heart was beating so fast. I had dreamed of finding a good man to be my husband, and I feel very lucky to have met Henry.
Finally, what advice would you give to other men who are considering a similar journey?
Henry’s Advice: My advice is to just do it. Get on a plane and go on a tour. You can’t experience this through a computer screen. Meeting the women in person, especially at the socials in places like Davao, is a life-changing experience. If you’re serious about finding a partner, you have to take that step.
